Title:
DEVICE FOR TEMPORARILY FIXING OPTICAL WAVEGUIDE ENDS IN A POSITION-DEFINED MANNER
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO2000008497
Kind Code:
A3
Abstract:
The aim of the invention is to fix optical waveguide ends (1), said waveguide ends being aligned parallel to one another, in a clamping device (2). During the use of a uniform clamping device (2), a different number of optical waveguide ends (1) have to be provided such that the clamping device (2) is variably positioned according to the number of optical waveguide ends (1). Preart devices have complex constructions and are difficult to use. According to the invention, a simply constructed device is provided in which the clamping device (2), according to the number of the optical waveguide ends (1) to be clamped, is inserted in the receptacles (4) of a fixing device (3) which are assigned to the respective number of optical waveguide ends (1). The receptacles (4) are advantageously arranged in the form of a centering body (7) which is placed in a total of eight different positions by rotating 90 DEG around the longitudinal axis thereof or by rotating 180 DEG around a transversal axis which is vertical in relation thereto. With this, receptacles (4) which are predetermined in a fixed manner are provided for a total of eight different optical waveguide ends (1).
