Abstract:

According to one embodiment of the present invention, disclosed is a device for treating ballast water by using ozone and ultraviolet (UV) irradiation, the device comprising: a UV sterilizing unit for generating sterilizing components by irradiating, with ultraviolet rays (UV), the inside of a pipe through which ballast water flows; and a fine ozone bubble generation and provision unit generating fine ozone bubbles so as to provide the same to the inside of the pipe, wherein the UV sterilizing unit is positioned more downstream than the fine ozone bubble generation and provision unit. Therefore, sterilizing time (storage time within a ballast tank) is minimized, and since ozone gas is consumed less, the amount of neutralizing agent to be used is reduced, and ballast water can be sterilized in both fresh water and seawater.
