Abstract:
This device for a vehicle comprises: a command calculation unit (50) that calculates a command value for a rotating electrical machine (20); and a rotating electrical machine control unit (36) that, on the basis of the calculated command value, provides switching control for an inverter (30), which controls the torque of the rotating electrical machine to be a command torque. The rotating electrical machine control unit performs the switching control so as to cause a field weakening current to flow when the operating point of the rotating electrical machine is within a first region or within a boundary-side region, acquires the temperature of the rotating electrical machine or similar, and configures the torque of the rotating electrical machine to be a limit torque when it has been determined that the acquired temperature has surpassed a limit initiation temperature. The device for a vehicle is configured such that the effective value of a phase current will be less than or equal to the maximum allowed current of the rotating electrical machine, due to the torque of the rotating electrical machine being configured to be the limit torque when the operating point of the rotating electrical machine is within the boundary-side region.
