Claims:
CLAIMS

1. A device (1) for packaging a product (P), in particular a cosmetic product, comprising:

- a cup member (2) defining a reservoir (3) of the product (P),

- a mesh (6) which is elastically deformable and through which the product (P) is picked-up,

- a support piece (10) onto which the mesh (6) is attached in a peripheral fixing zone (12), the support piece (10) being immobilized relative to the cup member (2) during dispensing of the product and comprising an internal ring (31),

- a stretching member (16) configured for stretching the mesh (6) by pressing on it at at least one location that is radially inside said peripheral fixing zone (12), characterized in that:

a sealing member (52) is trapped between the mesh (6) and the internal ring (31).

2. The device according to claim 1, characterized in that a tamper-evidence sheet (66) is arranged above the sealing member (52).

3. The device according to any of the preceding claims, wherein the sealing member (52) comprises a tear-opening tab (54).

4. The device according to any of the preceding claims, wherein the sealing member (52) comprises an aluminum layer.

5. The device according to any of the preceding claims, wherein the sealing member (52) comprises a precut line.

6. Process of use of a device according to anyone of the preceding claims, characterized in that it comprises:

(iv) Providing a device (1) according to anyone of the preceding claims,

(v) Removing the sealing member (52) trapped between the mesh (6) and the internal ring (31), (vi) Optionally, removing the tamper-evidence sheet (66) arranged above the sealing member (52).

Description:
DEVICE WITH A MESH AND A SEALING MEMBER

Field of the invention

The present invention relates to a device for packaging a product, in particular a cosmetic product or a care product, for example a makeup product.

The invention more particularly concerns, but is not limited to, a device comprising a container housing a product to be applied and a flexible porous membrane through which the product housed in the container can exit for dispensing.

Background of the invention

Numerous devices of this type are known, having various shapes and arrangements.

For example, WO 2017/155301, FR 3 027 200, JP H09 289918 relate to devices having a container of product provided with a porous membrane through which the product can be picked up.

But, the risk of damaging the porous membrane due to leakage during transportation or while spilling the device is relatively high.

Easy opening closures are used for closing an opening of a container with a sealing member, such that relatively easy by removing the sealing member the content of the container will become available to the consumer. The sealing member is generally relatively vulnerable and is released from its container support by gripping a tab, which is connected to or integral with the sealing member. Lifting the tap and exerting relatively low force will result in a detachment of the sealing member from the container support.

For example, EP2366634, JP5115956, JP10286116 disclose such easy opening closures with a sealing member adhered to a container. The adhesion can be reached by a specific structure of the container, by a glue or by a thermic treatment.

There is a need to further improve packaging devices comprising a flexible porous membrane through which the product may be picked-up.

There is a need to further improve such packaging devices by reducing the risk of leakage of the composition without making complicated the manufacturing process of the device.

There is a need to further improve such packaging device to avoid splashing of composition during transport, without adding neither pieces nor relief in the device. Object and summary of the invention

According to one aspect, the invention provides a device for packaging a product, in particular a cosmetic product, comprising:

- a cup member defining a reservoir of the product,

- a mesh which is elastically deformable and through which the product is picked-up,

- a support piece onto which the mesh is attached in a peripheral fixing zone, the support piece being immobilized relative to the cup member during dispensing of the product and comprising an internal ring,

- a stretching member configured for stretching the mesh by pressing on it at at least one location that is radially inside said peripheral fixing zone,

a sealing member being trapped between the mesh and the internal ring.

Thanks to the structure of the device according to the invention, the sealing member is safely sandwiched between the mesh and an internal ring of the support, which at once avoids the leakage of cosmetic product out of the device and avoids complicated arrangements for holding the mesh.

The cosmetic composition remains in the cup, even during the transportation of the device.

Preferably, a tamper-evidence sheet is arranged above the sealing member, as witness of first use.

More preferably, the sealing member comprises a tear-opening tab. The opening is easier for the user.

Even more preferably, the sealing member comprises an aluminum layer. Costs of manufacturing are reduced.

Even more preferably, the sealing member comprises a precut line. The opening is easier. The mesh attached to the support piece is not a follower.

It should also be noted that the mesh and support piece are attached to one another before assembling of the device.

Advantageously, the support piece is immobilized otherwise than by snap fastening of the support piece to the cup member.

The expression“otherwise than by snap-fastening” means that the support piece is immobilized relative to the cup member by friction, by bonding, by welding or by at least one axial locking element.

In such case, there is no need to provide the support piece and cup member with corresponding reliefs for snap-fastening. The tension of the mesh can be more easily adjusted with less risk of under- stretching or overstretching the mesh. Manufacturing tolerances may be higher.

Moreover, it offers more possibilities for performing a seal at the junction of the various elements if necessary.

The support piece is preferably immobilized on at least one location of the support piece that is not in contact with the mesh. It permits a good fixation of the support piece, as there is no contact between the support piece and the mesh at said at least one location of the fixation.

During the assembling of the device, the support piece may be inserted on the cup member until it comes into abutment with a surface of the cup member or until the desired position is reached, depending the embodiments. The insertion of the support piece may generate friction forces that immobilize the support piece in the cup member. The mesh may or may not be pressed between the support piece and the cup member, depending the embodiments. If it is pressed, it may help to immobilize the support piece in the cup member. The support piece may be inserted into the cup member until abutment of the support piece against an upper edge of a skirt of the cup member. The support piece may comprise one or more ribs that contribute to generate frictional forces against the cup member. The one or more ribs preferably abut against surface(s) of the cup member that are cylindrical. There is advantageously no engagement of the rib(s) with corresponding groove(s) of the cup member. The invention allows to adjust the tension or stretching of the mesh during assembling of the device.

The support piece is advantageously made in a rigid polymer material, for example a rigid thermoplastic material.

In case of the absence of snap-fastening of the support piece in the cup member, this allows to use rigid materials to make the support piece and the cup member, as the support piece or the cup member does not need to deform to a large extent when the support piece is inserted in the cup member. The absence of snap-fastening may also facilitate the molding of the support piece and cup member, as there is no need to make snap-fastening grooves.

The mesh is advantageously sufficiently elastically deformable so as to be able to come into contact with a bottom of the reservoir when the product in the reservoir has been used up. After the device is assembled, the mesh is not stretched up to the limit of elasticity. The device according to the invention enables to obtain a good restitution rate of the product. The restitution rate may be for example greater than 80%, better greater than 85%.

The stretching member is configured for stretching the mesh when the device is assembled. This stretching of the mesh remains during use of the device. The stretching of the mesh thanks to the stretching member does not exist before the physical contact between the mesh and the stretching member. The mesh attached to the support piece may be flat before being in contact with the stretching member. The support piece does not comprise the stretching member.

The stretching member may be part of an internal peripheral skirt. In such case, the stretching member is for example at least partially constituted by an upper end of the internal peripheral skirt. In a variant, the stretching member is constituted by a lower end of the internal peripheral skirt, depending on the orientation of the skirt, upward or downward.

In a particular embodiment, the internal peripheral skirt has a constant height. In a variant, the internal peripheral skirt has a varying height.

The support piece may be immobilized in at least one location of the support piece that is radially outside the peripheral fixing zone.

The support piece may be immobilized by contact with an external peripheral skirt, for example by friction, by bonding or by welding with such external peripheral skirt. When the device comprises an internal peripheral skirt and an external peripheral skirt, the support piece may be at least partially sandwiched between the internal peripheral skirt and the external peripheral skirt. In such a case, the support piece may be immobilized by friction, by bonding or by welding.

The internal peripheral skirt and the external peripheral skirt, when present, are arranged in a concentric manner.

The support piece may be prevented from axially moving by at least one axial locking element. The at least one axial locking element may axially cover the support piece so as to prevent it from axially moving.

The cup member may comprise the stretching member.

The device may comprise a covering part cooperating with the cup member. In such case, the covering part may comprise the stretching member.

When the device comprises an external peripheral skirt, the latter may be part of the cup member or part of the covering part, if any.

In a particular embodiment, the device has no covering part.

The support piece may comprise a circumferential rib whose contact with another part of the device participates to the immobilization of the support piece.

The mesh is advantageously welded to the support piece in the peripheral fixing zone, for example by ultrasounds or high frequency welding.

The support piece comprises for example a ring, the peripheral fixing zone being preferably at a lower end of the ring. The peripheral fixing zone may otherwise be at an upper end of the ring. The support piece advantageously comprises a single skirt ring. This means that it has not two or more concentric skirts.

In an embodiment, the support piece comprises an external edge extending radially outwardly from the remainder of the support piece, in particular from an upper end of the ring. The external edge preferably rests on an element, for example on an upper end thereto, participating to the immobilization of the support piece.

The support piece may comprise an internal edge extending radially inwardly from the remainder of the support piece, said internal edge resting for example on the stretching member, a portion of the mesh being sandwiched between the internal edge and the stretching member. The device or part of the device may be a refill. In such case, the refill may be packaged individually, for example in a sealed bag or box.

In one particular embodiment, one of the support piece and the cup member comprises at least one first partition wall, and the other of the support piece and the cup member comprises at least two second partition walls surrounding the first separation wall such that the mesh is enclosed between the at least one first partition wall and each of the at least two second partition walls. This embodiment permits creating compartments of products in the cup member.

The peripheral fixing zone delimitates for example a zone having a shape chosen among a circular shape, an oval shape, and a polygonal shape such as a rectangular or a square shape.

The peripheral fixing zone may have an annular shape.

The mesh may be a textile mesh and may comprise a woven, a non-woven or a knitted fabric. The mesh may be a foam membrane or another non-textile mesh such as a perforated plastic film for example.

The mesh is permeable so that the product can be picked up through it.

The mesh comprises a lower surface that is oriented towards the product contained in the reservoir and an upper surface away from the product contained in the reservoir.

The maximum thickness between the lower surface and the upper surface of the mesh is the thickness of the mesh. The thickness of the mesh may be between 0.4 and 5 mm.

The area of the upper surface of the mesh may lie between 180 mm 2 and 3800 mm 2 . Such an area of the upper surface and such a thickness of the mesh make it possible to have a large surface for the user to access the product, while minimizing the quantity of textile material that is necessary and the quantity of product that remains trapped in the mesh at the end of use.

Depending on the degree of initial filling of the cup member, the product contained in the reservoir may or may not be in contact with the lower surface of the mesh when no pressure is applied to the latter by the user.

Preferably, the mesh can conform to the surface of the product contained in the reservoir while said product is being picked up. The upper surface of the mesh may be substantially flat in its part through which the product passes during use. The lower surface of the mesh may be substantially flat in its part through which the product passes during use. The areas of the upper and lower surfaces of the mesh may be the same or different.

The thickness of the mesh may be substantially constant in its part through which the product passes during use.

The support piece may be fixed to the upper surface of the mesh. Alternatively, the support piece is fixed to the lower surface of the mesh.

The bottom of the reservoir may have a substantially flat shape or a concave shape towards the mesh. The bottom of the reservoir may have a paraboloidal, ellipsoidal or spherical shape. The bottom of the reservoir may be situated roughly at the same level as the lower part of the device.

The cosmetic product is advantageously one of a foundation, a concealer product, a complexion corrector and a care product.

The product may be either in a liquid, pasty or free powder form.

The product may be fluid. The viscosity of the product may be between 40 and 90 UD (Deviation Unit), preferably between 55 and 80 UD, or between 366 and 569 cP (centiPoises), or between 0.37 and 0.57 Pa.s.

This viscosity is measured at 25°C with a Rheomat 180 (Lamy) equipped with an MS-R2 spindle, selected for a low to medium viscosity of the product, which rotates at a speed of 200 revolutions per minute. The measurement is taken after a rotation time of 10 minutes. The viscosity measurements are taken at the latest one week after manufacture. Such a viscosity makes it possible to improve the taking of the product from the upper surface of the mesh and to avoid product flowing during use.

The device may comprise a protective lid which covers the mesh when the product is not being picked up. The protective lid can be fixed by friction, screw-fastening, bayonet locking or snap-fastening. In a variant, the protective lid can be connected in an articulated manner or by a sliding connection.

The product can be taken from the upper surface of the mesh with the aid of an applicator. This applicator may comprise or be constituted of an applicator member such as a foam, a brush, a sponge, a nonwoven, or a flocked end piece. In a variant, the product is picked up with a finger, by passing the latter over the mesh.

It is possible for the device not to have an applicator accommodated between the protective lid and the mesh. This makes it possible to simplify manufacture compared with devices in which an applicator is incorporated, and to give the user greater freedom of choice for applying the product.

In one variant, the device comprises an applicator so as to provide the user with a complete system.

The device may comprise a mirror, in particular accommodated in the protective lid.

The device is deprived of any wiper member through which the applicator is extracted.

The device may comprise no bellow, in particular in the cup member.

The cup member may comprise a rigid body. The rigid body may be produced by molding a thermoplastic material, with a cavity defining the space holding the product and constituting the reservoir. The cup member is not a flexible sheet.

The cup member may comprise the internal peripheral skirt and the external peripheral skirt, arranged in a concentric manner, the support piece being inserted between them.

The support piece may be supported by an upper edge of an internal peripheral skirt or external peripheral skirt that is part of the cup member, the support piece being caught between the cup member and a retention piece.

When the cup member comprises the internal peripheral skirt and the external peripheral skirt, arranged in a concentric manner, the support piece may rest against the bottom of a cylindrical space between the two skirts.

There may be one single piece that comprises the stretching member and a retention by radial clamping.

Method for assembling a device

A further subject of the invention is a method for assembling a device as defined above, comprising:

- filling the cup member with product,

- providing the support piece with the attached mesh, - bringing into contact the mesh with the stretching member and pressing on the mesh with the stretching member so as to stretch the mesh,

- immobilizing the support piece relative to the cup member.

Makeup method

A further subject of the invention is a makeup method comprising the steps of:

- loading an applicator with product by using a device as defined above, and

- applying the product to a region to be treated of human keratin materials.

The applicator may be loaded without moving the applicator other than by moving it into contact with and then away from the mesh, this causing the product to be deposited on the applicator.

In a variant, at the time that product is picked up, the user can turn the applicator and/or move it in translation in contact with the mesh.

The product may be grasped by friction or by tapping the applicator or the finger on the mesh.

A further subject of the invention is a process of use of a device according to the invention comprising:

(i) Providing a device according to the invention,

(ii) Removing the sealing member trapped between the mesh and the

internal ring,

(iii) Optionally, removing the tamper-evidence sheet arranged above the sealing member.

- Figure 1 is a partial, schematic view, in perspective and from above, of an example of the device according to the invention before a first use,

- Figure 3 shows schematically, in cross-section and in perspective, the support piece of the device of figure 1 and 2, with a tamper-evident sheet, - Figure 4 shows, schematically and in cross section, a device according to the invention comprising the support piece of figure 3, after assembling,

- Figure 5 shows, schematically and in cross section, part of the device of figure 4 before assembling.

Detailed description of the drawings

In the rest of the description, identical elements or elements having equivalent functions bear the same reference signs. Their description is not repeated for each of the figures, only the main differences between the embodiments being highlighted.

Figures 1 to 5 show an embodiment of a device 1 for packaging a product according to the invention. The device 1 is assembled according to an axis X. The device 1 comprises a cup member 2 defining a reservoir 3 of the product. The reservoir 3 is defined by an internal peripheral skirt 4 of cylindrical shape and a bottom 5 that is partially flat, as shown. In this example, the diameter of the internal peripheral skirt 4 is greater than the height of the internal peripheral skirt 4.

The device 1 also comprises a mesh 6 which is elastically deformable, permeable, through which the product is to be picked-up. In this example, the mesh 6 is made of a woven fabric, but it could be made of a non- woven or knitted fabric or of another non-textile material, for example a foam, without departing from the scope of the invention.

The device 1 also comprises a support piece 10 onto which the mesh 6 is attached in a peripheral fixing zone 12. The support piece 10 comprises a ring 15 of cylindrical shape, in this example a single skirt ring. In this example, the mesh 6 is welded to the support piece 10. Still in this example, the peripheral fixing zone 12 is constituted by a lower end of the ring 15.

The device 1 comprises a stretching member 16 configured for stretching the mesh 6 by pressing on it at least one location that is radially inside said peripheral fixing zone 12. In this example, the stretching member 16 is part of the internal peripheral skirt 4 of the cup member 2, being constituted by an upper end thereof. In this example, the internal peripheral skirt 4 has a constant height.

The support piece 10 is immobilized relative to the cup member 2 otherwise than by snap-fastening. The support piece 10 is partially immobilized by friction contact to another piece of the device at a location 20 that is, in this example, radially outside said peripheral fixing zone 12. In this embodiment, the cup member 2 comprises an external peripheral skirt 25 that is radially external and parallel to the internal peripheral skirt 4. There is an annular space 26 between the internal peripheral skirt 4 and the external peripheral skirt 25. In this example, the support piece 10 is immobilized relative to the cup member 2 by friction.

The two concentric peripheral skirts of the cup member 2 constituted by the internal peripheral skirt 4 and the external peripheral skirt 25 are linked at a lower end of the cup member 2 by a wall 27 that is flat and has a lower surface that is aligned with a lower surface of the bottom 5 of the reservoir 3. The wall 27 also extends radially outwardly relative to the external peripheral skirt 25. The skirts 4 and 25 are integral with the cup member.

The ring 15 of the support piece 10 comprises a circumferential rib 29 being in contact at the location 20 with the external peripheral skirt 25. The circumferential rib 29 extends on the radially external surface 30 of the ring 15, substantially in a middle part thereof.

The ring 15 of the support piece 10 also comprises a radially internal rib 31 extending on a radially internal surface 32 of the ring 15, at the middle thereof.

A sealing member 52 is freely arranged between the mesh 6 sealed to the ring 15 and the internal ring 31 provided on the internal surface of the ring 15. The sealing member 52 might be provided with a tear-opening tab 54 located on the sealing sheet 57.

The support piece 10 comprises an external edge 33 extending radially outwardly from the remainder of the support piece 10, in this example from an upper end of the ring 15.

A taper-evidence sheet 66 is arranged on the external edge 33, for example by gluing or fusing.

Before the assembling, the mesh 6 attached to the support piece 10 is flat as shown in figure 3.

During the assembling of the device according to axis X, the support piece 10 is assembled to the cup member 2 so that the stretching member 16 presses on the mesh 6 at one annular location 34 that is radially inside the peripheral fixing zone 12 so as to stretch the mesh 6, as shown in figure 4. The mesh 6 is deformed.

Then, the mesh 6 comprises the welded outer zone 35, a tubular shaped zone 36 and a flat circular inner zone 37. The outer zone 35 corresponds to the peripheral fixing zone 12. The tubular shaped zone 36 is between the peripheral fixing zone 12 and the annular location 34. The inner zone 37 is the zone of the mesh 6 that is inside the annular location 34. This inner zone 37 is the zone of the mesh 6 through which the product is to be picked up. In this example, the inner zone 37 is circular in shape but it could be square-shaped, rectangular-shaped, or have another shape without departing from the scope of the invention.

As the support piece 10 is inserted in the annular space 26, the sealing member 52 is pushed upwards to the internal edge 31 which acts as an abutment. In this zone, the sealing sheet 57 is thus sandwiched between the mesh 6 and the internal edge 31.

The tear-opening tab 54 might extend radially on the external surface of the sealing member 52, an end 56 thereof being trapped between the sealing sheet 57 and the internal edge 31.

Preferably, the sealing member 52 entirely covers the opening of the cup 2 and forms a barrier film preventing the composition from flowing out of the cup 2.

Preferably, the sealing member 52 has a thickness between 0,1 mm and 1 mm measured along the longitudinal axis X.

When the device 1 is assembled, the support piece 10 is at least partially sandwiched between the internal peripheral skirt 4 and the external peripheral skirt 25. The presence of the ribs 29 and 31 serves to retain by friction the support piece 10 and the mesh 6 in the device 1. The support piece 10 is not movable within the device 1, once the latter is assembled.

The outer edge 33 is fixed by snapping on the upper end 40 of the external peripheral skirt 25. Thus, the external edge 33 rests on the upper end 40 of the external peripheral skirt 25.

In addition to the cup member 2, the support piece 10 and the mesh 6, the device 1 may also comprise other parts. In this example, the device 1 comprises a case 50 having a substantially cylindrical opening 51 for receiving the cup member 2 and the support piece 10 attached to the mesh 6.

To use the device 1 according to the invention, the user pulls the opening tab 54 between two fingers to stir up the sealing sheet 57 until it is entirely teared out of the cup member 2. The sealing sheet 57 gradually slides under the internal edge 31. It can be removed by the user and thrown away. The sealing sheet 57 might be a monolayer barrier such as a monolayer comprising aluminum.

The sealing sheet 57 might also be a multilayer barrier film and may comprise at least one upper thermoplastic layer and at least one supplemental layer as an aluminum layer, a metallized plastic layer, a polyamide layer and any suitable barrier layer. The multilayer barrier film is advantageously configured to form an effective barrier to preserve the cosmetic product contained within the cup.

The sealing sheet 57 might comprise a precut portion.

The device 1 may be a refill. In such case, the refill may be packaged individually, for example in a sealed bag or box.

The invention is not limited to the embodiments shown. There may be more than one compartment of product within the cup member 2.
