[Problem] The provide an agitation/defoaming device that can prevent dislodging or cutting of an elastic body in the external peripheral part of a container, and is able to increase the revolution and rotation speed of the container. [Solution] An agitation/defoaming device (1) provided with a rotating means/revolving means for a container (2), wherein the device for agitating/defoaming a material in the container (2) is provided with a container holder (11) for holding the container (2), a revolving arm (12) for rotatably holding the container holder (11) while causing the holder to revolve, a driving means (3) for the revolving arm (12), and an annular outer ring (13) arranged so that the internal peripheral part thereof is in contact with the entire external peripheral part (11A) of the container holder (11). The rotation axis of the container holder (11) forms a predetermined angle θ, and the container holder is arranged so that there is contact between a resin elastic ring (31) fitted into a concave groove (14) and a contact surface (15a) of the outer ring (13), and is also arranged so that the gap between the concave groove (14) and the outer ring (13) is one half or less of the radial dimension of the resin elastic ring (31) in a maximally compressed state.
