Description:

Devices used for carrying a crossbow and arrows.

The technical decision relates to the field of means for throwing a projectile without use of explosive or combustible throwing charge, namely - crossbows, and may be used for storing or carrying assembled crossbows, as well as arrows for a crossbow. There is a known (RU, patent 2282389) multipurpose backpack consisting of a capacity for carrying cargoes with shoulder belts and a hip belt which is in addition supplied with a protective cover made as a rectangular which corners are supplied with one-piece zip fasteners, where the cover is connected to the capacity for carrying cargoes using a detachable joint, it is made of a water-proof material and together with the capacity forms a pocket. The capacity is divided, at least, into two sections, each of them has the input cuts supplied with fasteners, besides in the top corners of the cover sleeves are located, and on the top cutoff a hood is attached.

The drawback of the known backpack is design complexity, and its basic unfitness to transport an assembled crossbow, and the arrows for a crossbow.

There is a known (US, patent 5265584) design of a quiver containing a case for placing the arrow heads, an adapter unit attached to the case for placing the arrow heads, two means for fixing the arrow placed on the specified adapter unit in such a manner that the arrow feathers are placed behind the means for fixing the arrow body that is distant to the case. Besides the known design the quiver has an arm that may be fastened to an element of the crossbow from one side and featuring an easily removable fastening to an element of quiver from the other side,

means for fastening the arm to quiver, as well as means for fastening the arm to a crossbow. The means for fastening the quiver to a crossbow, and the quiver to an arm, are made as screw elements. Another drawback of the known design is inconvenient for the archer location of quiver on the bow and the crossbow, and impossibility to change the position of quiver about the axis of crossbow for choosing the most convenient position and speeding up the process of loading the crossbow.

The purpose of the present technical decision is development of means providing transportation of a crossbow in the assembled condition, as well as its arrows providing for better convenience of using the crossbow in field conditions, due to use of the developed means. For achieving the specified object it is offered to use means for carrying the crossbow over the shoulders, containing a damping support adjoining to the archer's back, this support is equipped with at least one device for fastening a crossbow to the damping support, and, at least, one device for fastening the damping support for placing the damping support and the crossbow attached to it behind the archer's back. In the preferred embodiment the damping support is equipped with two devices for fastening a crossbow: one in the area of stock neck, the other - in area of fastening the limbs to the base. The damping base may be made of leather, artificial leather, tarpaulin, canvas or any other mechanically strong soft material. The device for fastening a crossbow to the damping base is normally made as quick- dismountable means that allows taking the crossbow easily and quickly from behind the back. However for transporting the crossbow at a significant distance a fastening device as thongs with clasps may

be used. The device for fastening the damping support for placing the damping support and the crossbow attached to it behind the archer's back normally represents, at least, two, and preferably four belts, clasped in front using clasps. However it is possible to use other versions. The means may contain in addition a device for placing crossbow arrows, fixed to the damping support. The specified device contains, in the preferred embodiment, a mechanically strong support with slots for placing the crossbow arrows heads downwards. Besides, the means may contain in addition some devices for placing the crossbow cocking device, the tool, spare parts and objects for personal use, fixed to the damping support. The specified devices for placing may be produced using what method so ever. In addition the means may have devices for its fastening the archer's waist, representing in the preferred embodiment waist belts with a clasp. Also for achieving the specified object it is offered to use means (bag) for transporting a crossbow, characterized by presence of an oblong casing inside which, at one of face walls, there is a clamp for the forward part of the crossbow, and at the other face wall there is a clamp for the rear part of the crossbow, thus both clamps are made of elastic material and have the thickness providing for fixing the crossbow, both in vertical, and in horizontal position about the bottom of the casing, thus providing a clearance between the fixed crossbow and the casing. In the preferred embodiment the specified clamps are fixed to the internal surface of the casing. Fastening the clamps to the internal side of the casing may be done using any known method. However it is desirable to use fastening of clamps with an opportunity of their dismount. Such a fastening may be done using so-called

"stickers". In the preferred embodiment the clamps represent plates made of an elastic material having a cut-out designed for placing the forward or rear part of a crossbow. The size of the cut-out should guarantee the fixing of the corresponding part of the crossbow. It is preferable to use a cut-out having a rectangular shape, though use of a cut-out with expansion in the lower part is also possible. In one of embodiments of the developed technical decision, at least, one of clamps may consist of two parts for a more reliable fixing. Inside the casing the devices intended for storing and carrying accessories and means for servicing the crossbow may be placed. The specified devices may be realized, depending on purpose, as loops, pockets, clips, etc. For extending the service life of clamps and consequently, all the developed means for transporting a crossbow the clamps may be covered by a fabric, a leather-cloth or a leather. In the preferred embodiment the casing is made as a multilayer. As a whole the casing should be enough rigid for protecting the crossbow when carrying and transporting. Availability of several layers raises protective properties of the casing, convenience of use of the means, its service life, and its appearance. Besides it allows adjusting if necessary the cost price of the finished article due to selection of the materials used for manufacturing internal and external layers of the casing. The external layer of the casing may be realized, depending on conditions of further use and consumer's requirements of a polymeric material, fabric, leather-cloth, leather, wood, plastic or metal. The internal layer may be produced of a porous polymeric material, fabric, leather-cloth, or leather. The middle layer may be produced of a porous polymeric material, cardboard, plastic, or their combinations. The means also

contains the means for carrying made as two handles, the lateral faces of the casing being attached to the external surface, or one handle attached to the external surface of one of the face sides of the casing. The means may contain both two handles and one shoulder belt at the same time. The means contains a cover representing a part of the casing.

Also for achieving the specified object it is offered to use a quiver design for storing and transporting arrows. The developed design contains a case for placing the arrow heads, means for fixing the arrow body, connected to the case using an adapter unit, an arm for fastening the quiver to a crossbow, that may be fastened to an element of the crossbow from one side and featuring an easily removable fastening to an element of quiver from the other side, where the adapter unit is made as integral part of the case, at the side of the arm, designed for fastening to the quiver element; there is at least one ledge, on the underside of the case there is an additional element designed for fastening the arm to the case, this element represents a platform with a flat surface having at least one slot mated to the specified ledge. The slot and the corresponding ledge may have various shape: square rectangular, rectangular with rounded edges, round, circular sectors, etc. In case of using more than one slot (and accordingly) more than one ledge, when overlaying the ledges on slots their full match should take place, i.e. each slot should correspond to a ledge. However generally the number of slots may exceed the number of ledges, in particular there may be one ledge, while the number of slots may be more than one, and each time combining a ledge with one of slots, one can get a new position of

quiver about the longitudinal axis of the crossbow. Similarly, in case of use of two or more ledges on the plane there should be a combination of slots corresponding to those ledges. In a preferred embodiment the height of a ledge and the depth of a slot ranges from 2 to 5 mm. In case of smaller depth of a slot the fixation of a ledge in a slot is too weak. In case of bigger depth the platform thickness raises considerably. In the most preferred embodiment the arm may be fastened to a crossbow using an easily removable fastening. Thus depending on archer's preferences the quiver may be located on to the left, and to the right of the longitudinal axis of crossbow. It may also be located transversely to the longitudinal axis of a crossbow. The location of quiver about the longitudinal axis of crossbow depends on the arrangement of slots in the platform. In a preferred embodiment the case and accordingly the adapter unit are made of ABC plastic with addition of fiber glass, means for fixing the arrows are made of rubber, the arm is made of ABC plastic with addition of fiber glass, thus the platform has at least two slots, while the arm has at least two ledges.

Fig. 1 is a schematic view of the developed means for carrying a crossbow over the shoulders; Fig. 2 is a schematic view of the developed; Fig. 3 is an overall view of a quiver; Fig. 4 is a view of the platform; Fig. 5 is a view of the arm, where the following denotations are used: damping support 1; device 2 for fastening the damping support 1 for placing the damping support and the crossbow attached to it behind the archer's back; device 3 for fastening a crossbow to the damping support 1; crossbow 4; casing 5; clamps 6; cover 7; handle 8; devices 9 for placing a quiver with arrows, as well as devices for

servicing a crossbow; case 10; means 11 for fixing the arrow body, adapter unit 12; arm 13; platform 14; slots 15; ledge 16 of the arm 13; means for fixing 17.

Further the essence of the developed technical decision will be disclosed using the examples of its realization.

1. Means for carrying the crossbow over the shoulders contains a damping support 1 adjoining to the back and made of leather having two devices 3 for fastening a crossbow to the damping support 1, made as "stickers", where one "sticker" is located in the zone of stock neck of the crossbow, while the second "sticker" is located in the area of fastening of limbs to the base of crossbow. On the corners of the damping support 1 belts 2 with clasps, designed for fastening the damping support with the crossbow 4 fixed to it on the archer's (user) back are fixed.

2. Means for carrying a crossbow (bag) contains a three-layer casing 5 where the external and internal layers are made of fabric, and the middle layer represents a combination of plastic and foam rubber. In the given example the rigidity of the casing is provided by plastic inserts of the middle layer of the casing. The casing 5 is a parallelepiped having two handles 8, attached to it and used for carrying the said means. The cover 7 is located in the top part of the parallelepiped and it is locked using a fastener like a "zipper". Two clamps 6 are mounted on the face surfaces of the parallelepiped. The said clamps 6 are made of foamed polyurethane and represent plates with a rectangular cut-out. They are fixed in the casing 5 due to elasticity of their material - foamed polyurethane. The crossbow is

placed in clamps sideways in such a manner that the bow is transverse to the bottom of casing.

3. The quiver is mounted on the bow and crossbow as follows: the arm 13 is fixed to the base of a bow and a crossbow at the right or at the left of the longitudinal axis of a bow and a crossbow, depending on what hand the archer would charge the throwing device. Further the quiver position is determined about the bow and crossbow axis according to the direction of the chosen slots 15 and the ledges 16 on an arm 13 with slots 15 on the platform 14 are matched. Then the means for fixing to obtain reliable connection of the case 10 of the quiver and the arm 13 is mounted.

In any version of realization of the developed technical decision the earlier specified technical result is achieved: improving the user friendliness due to making easier the reach to the crossbow and, if necessary, to its arrows from behind the back.
