A dextran-magnetic iron oxide nanoparticle, comprising a dextran layer, a magnetic iron oxide nanoparticle and an active drug, the dextran being thinly coated on the outside of the magnetic iron oxide nanoparticle, and the active drug being conjugated to the dextran layer by means of a non-covalent bond; the active drug may be erlotinib, and the dextran-magnetic iron oxide nanoparticle may be used to treat cancer and as contrast.
