Abstract:
A dial for a solar clock exhibiting excellent light transmissivity and decorativeness (aesthetic appearance), and a clock capable of supplying a sufficient quantity of outdoor light to a solar cell while exhibiting excellent decorativeness. The dial (1) for a solar clock employed in a solar clock provided with a solar cell (9), characterized by comprising a substrate (11) composed of a light transmitting material, a polarizing body (13) provided on the side of the substrate (11) facing the solar cell (9) and polarizing incident light, and a diffusion layer (12) composed of a material containing an agent having a function for diffusing the incident light and arranged between the substrate (11) and the a polarizing body (13). The polarizing body (13) has a function for transmitting first light oscillating in a predetermined direction and reflecting second light oscillating in the direction perpendicular to the oscillating direction of the first light.
