Abstract:
A diamond sand cloth and method of making it are disclosed, wherein, the cloth
includes base fabric and diamond particles, the base fabric is a liquid- permeable
mesh, a metal layer is discretely plated on its first surface and penetrates into
its second surface, so diamond particles are embedded in the metal layer of its
first surface. In the present invention, the top-surface and undersurface of
the base mesh are covered with non-conductive material respectively, so inerratic
and geometrical lines are formed on it, then the base mesh is put into a electroplating
bath and diamond particles are embedded or scattered on it, the plating layer
can form into metal base layer on the spaced conductive points by electroplating,
and diamond particles are locked into the metal layer. Because of their up-and-down
lock, diamond particles embedded on the base fabric have higher fastness, the
sand cloth thus formed resist abrasion and has longer working-life. Just because
of the spaced arrangement of the metal base layer on the diamond sand cloth, the
sand cloth also has flexibility, so it is easy to polish work-pieces which have
curved surface or flat surface.
