Abstract:
Provided is a diaphragm-shaped split mechanical seal in which leakage from the splitting surfaces of a stationary sealing ring and a rotating sealing ring is prevented. The diaphragm-shaped split mechanical seal is an outside-type mechanical seal that receives liquid pressure on the inner circumference of the stationary sealing ring (4) and the rotating sealing ring (7) and in which the stationary sealing ring (4) is held by a diaphragm (3) and the stationary sealing ring (4) and the rotating sealing ring (7) are split in the circumferential direction. The mechanical seal is characterized in that the leading end (3c) of the diaphragm (3) is fitted together with the inner circumference of the stationary sealing ring (4) so as to form a seal and a packing (21) is fitted together with the inner circumference of the rotating sealing ring (7) so as to form a seal.
