Abstract:
A dielectric barrier discharge lamp ignition device in which one ignition circuit carries out parallel ignition of a plurality of dielectric barrier discharge lamps is comprised of twenty four dielectric discharge lamps (1) and an ignition circuit (2) for carrying out parallel ignition of twenty four dielectric discharge lamps (1), which is provided with a direct current power source (3), an inverter circuit (4), a step-up transformer (5) and a detecting circuit (6) for detecting the number of igniting lamps. The detecting circuit (6) detects the number of dielectric discharge lamps that have been normally igniting since the application of a first peak value right after a positive or negative polarity of a high rectangular voltage output from the step-up transformer (5) is reversed, and stops the operation of the ignition circuit (2) if the detected one is equal to a predetermined number or less.
