Abstract:
Provided is a multilayer ceramic capacitor which has excellent life characteristics in a high-temperature load test even in cases where the dielectric layer is further reduced in thickness. A dielectric ceramic which contains, as a main component, a compound that is represented by the following general formula: (Ba1-x-yCaxRey)(Ti1-zMz)O3 (wherein Re represents at least one element selected from among La, Ce, Pr, Nd, Sm, Eu, Gd, Tb, Dy, Ho, Er, Tm, Yb, Lu and Y; M represents at least one element selected from among Mg, Mn, Al, Cr and Zn) and satisfies 0 ≤ x ≤ 0.2, 0.002 ≤ y ≤ 0.1 and 0.001 ≤ z ≤ 0.05 is used as the dielectric ceramic that constitutes a dielectric layer (2) of a multilayer ceramic capacitor (1). This dielectric ceramic has an average crystal grain size of 20-150 nm (inclusive).
