Provided is a dielectric ceramic which, when used as the dielectric layers of a multilayered ceramic capacitor, can impart excellent life characteristics to the multilayered ceramic capacitor. Also provided is a multilayered ceramic capacitor which includes dielectric layers configured of the dielectric ceramic and which has excellent reliability (life characteristics). The dielectric ceramic comprises a sintered object of BaTiO3-based ceramic particles, wherein each ceramic grain comprises a shell which is the surface layer part and a core which is located inside the shell. The ceramic grains contain, as minor components, R (R is at least one rare-earth element selected from a group consisting of Nd, Sm, Eu, Gd, Tb, Dy, Ho, Er, and Y) and M (M is at least one element selected from a group consisting of Mg, Mn, Ni, Co, Fe, Cr, Cu, Al, Mo, W, and V), wherein the R and the M are present in the shell (21) of each ceramic grain (20) and the concentrations of the R and M in the shell (21) increase from the grain boundary (25) toward the core (22).
