Abstract:
A controller for controlling the injection amount and injection timing of fuel being injected into the cylinder of a diesel engine, comprising a means for altering the target value V1 of one control mode gradually to the target value V2 of the other control mode when switching is made from one control mode to the other control mode by setting two control modes, i.e. a normal injection mode for controlling the injection amount and injection timing such that injected fuel is ignited in the vicinity of compression top dead center during its injection period, and a premix injection mode for controlling the injection amount and injection timing such that fuel injection ends before the compression top dead center and injected fuel is ignited in the vicinity of compression top dead center through a premix period, and presetting the target value of control parameters (e.g. pilot injection timing) in each control mode individually.
