Abstract:

The power consumption of a feed pump drive motor and the driving noise of a feed pump are reduced during the idling or under light load. A diesel engine (1) using dimethyl ether (5) as the fuel comprises the feed pump (8) installed in a fuel tank (6) and supplying the fuel in the fuel tank (6) to a high-pressure pump (4) on the engine side through a feed pipe (7) and a controller (14) for calculating a vapor pressure from the temperature of the fuel in a fuel passage part (13) inside the high-pressure pump (4), setting a pressure margin of the vapor pressure according to the operating state of the engine, and so controlling the feed pump (8) that the pressure of the fuel in the fuel passage part (13) inside the high-pressure pump (4) is a target pressure obtained by adding the pressure margin to the vapor pressure.
