Abstract:
The present invention pertains to a diesel engine starting device, and achieves stable combustion in a short time when the diesel engine is restarted after an idle stop. The diesel engine starting device is provided with: an injector (11) that injects fuel inside cylinders; a glow plug (13) that generates heat through electrification, and raises the temperature of each cylinder; a starter motor (40) that is driven when the engine starts; and an electronic control unit (ECU) (70) that controls the injector (11), the glow plug (13), and the starter motor (40). The ECU (70) stops the piston of cylinder #1 at bottom dead center during the compression stroke during an idle stop, and starts electrification of the glow plug (13). The ECU (70) then drives the starter motor (40) when the engine is to be restarted due to an automatic stop condition no longer being satisfied, injects fine amounts of fuel inside cylinder #1 in multiple injection stages via the injector (11), and injects a small amount of fuel for ignition via the injector (11) immediately before the piston of cylinder #1 reaches top dead center.
