Abstract:
The differential gear mechanism of this disclosure is designed in such a manner that on the tooth surface of either the gear tooth of the crown gear or the pinion tooth of the pinion gear a plurality of contact lines of the gear tooth and the pinion tooth are prescribed each predetermined angle about the shaft center of the pinion gear, and when the center line of the pinion gear and the pinion tooth root surface and the plurality of contact lines are projected about the shaft center of the pinion gear on a plane which includes the shaft centers of the pair of crown gears, the center line of the pinion gear root surface projected onto said plane includes a sloped line which passes through the range between two contact lines having mating ratios of at least 1.0, from among the plurality of contact lines projected onto the plane. As a result of this configuration, it is possible to make the differential gear mechanism more compact while improving the durability of each pinion gear.
