Abstract:
Provided is a diffusion plate whereby unevenness of luminance or color can be improved while suppressing speckle noise of transmitted light or reflected light. This diffusion plate comprises a microlens array having a structure for generating an optical path length difference with respect to incident light or reflected light, the microlenses having the same effective diameter. The microlens array constitutes a basic block structure arranged periodically, the period being an integer multiple of the effective diameter, a two-dimensional second periodic structure having a period that is N times the period of the microlens array in a basic periodic structure is formed by a repeating arrangement of the basic blocks, and the microlenses are set so as to generate an optical path length difference based on a specific arrangement in the basic block structure.
