Abstract:
A digital camera comprises a photometric part that divides a subject field into a
plurality of areas for photometric measurement; a reference value calculating part
that calculates, based on a photometric result by the photometric part, a first
reference value, which is used to decide an exposure condition during an image
pickup, and also calculates a second reference value that is different from the
first reference value and that is used to set a gray scale conversion characteristic to
be used for implementing a gray scale correction of the image picked up based on
the photometric result; an exposure condition deciding part that decides, based
on the first reference value, the exposure condition during the image pickup; a
gray scale conversion characteristic setting part that sets, based on the second reference
value, the gray scale conversion characteristic; and an image processing part
that subjects the image, which is captured, based on the exposure condition, by
the image pickup part, to an image processing including a gray scale conversion using
the gray scale conversion characteristic.
