Abstract:
A variable digital filter not producing transient response noise while operating. The filter comprises a subtractor (12) for detecting the difference between the input signal (X(z)) and a feedback signal (FB(z)), a &gammad -times multiplier (13) for multiplying the output signal (Cmp) of the subtractor (12) by a value corresponding to one of coefficients selected from outside, an adder (14) for adding the output signal (V(z)) of the &gammad -times multiplier (13) and the feedback signal (FB(z)), and a delay unit (15) for delaying the output (W(z)) of the adder (14) by one sampling time. The output of the delay unit (15) is fed as the feedback signal (FB(z)) to the subtractor (12) and the adder (14). When the filter acts as a lowpass filter, the output signal (W(z)) of the adder (14) is used as the output signal (Y(z)); when the filter acts as a highpass filter, the output signal (Cmp) of the subtractor (12) is used as the output signal (Y(z)).
