Abstract:
The present invention provides a dimming device (10) comprising a dimming sheet. The dimming sheet comprises: a dimming layer (11) capable of switching between a first state and a second state, by switching the orientation of liquid crystal molecules (11BL) by applying a drive voltage; and a pair of transparent electrode layers (12) that sandwich the dimming layer (11). In the first state, the dimming layer (11) is transparent and in the second state the dimming layer (11) is cloudy. The dimming layer (11) is in the second state when no drive voltage is applied. When the dimming layer (11) is in the second state, the dimming sheet has a transmitted image clarity of no more than 70%. Transmitted image clarity is the clarity for the transmitted image when the optical comb width is set to 0.125, in accordance with JIS K 7374:2007.
