Abstract:
Provided is a dimming element (1001) that has a plurality of compounds with light absorption characteristics that change under an external stimulus, wherein the plurality of compounds each have a different absorption wavelength, the dimming element (1001) has a variable transmittance VT(λ) that is a combination of the light absorption properties of the plurality of compounds, and NWDMax < NWDMaxFP. NWDMax is the maximum value among the ratio of signal intensity ratios of the transmitted light for each detection light wavelength region of the light detector (1002), which are taken in the transmission state and the dimming state of the dimming element, between a reference light source and a control light source [(reference light source)/(control light source) or (control light source)/(reference light source)], NWDMaxFP is NWDMax at the concentration ratio of the plurality of compounds at which the wavelength flatness TF of the VT(λ) in the detection light wavelength region becomes a minimum value TFFP.
