Abstract:
According to the present invention, current is shut off only when the current suddenly increases as in a short-circuit accident. A DC voltage is applied between a terminal T1 and a terminal T2. A load is connected between a terminal T3 and a terminal T4. A contact 20 opens and closes a DC electric circuit. A current-limiting reactor 10A has a main coil 11 and a sub-coil 12. A current of the DC electric circuit flows through the main coil 11. The main coil 11 limits a current flowing through the DC electric circuit. The sub-coil 12 is electromagnetically coupled to the main coil 11. When the current flowing through the main coil 11 changes, a current corresponding to the change in the current of the main coil 11 is generated in the sub-coil 12 due to mutual induction. A tripping device 30 has, for example, a tripping coil. The current generated in the sub-coil 12 flows through the tripping coil. The tripping coil opens the contact 20 when the current exceeds a predetermined value due to magnetic force generated by the current. Therefore, the tripping device 30 opens the contact 20 when the rate of change in the current flowing through the DC electric circuit exceeds a predetermined value.
