Provided is a direct current high-voltage power supply device such that an output high-voltage can be switched between positive and negative at a high speed in order to increase the speed of the switching between positive ion measurement and negative ion measurement. When the polarity of the voltage is to be switched from a state in which a positive polarity high-voltage is being outputted from a voltage output end (6) by having an excitation circuit (1A1) on the positive electrode side turned ON and having a high-voltage switch (3A) turned ON, a control unit (7) turns OFF the excitation circuit (1A1) and turns ON a high-voltage switch (3B) on the negative electrode side. Since the high-voltage switches (3A, 3B) are turned ON together, electrical charge accumulated in an output capacitor (4) immediately before, or the electric charge accumulated in a capacitor (31A) from a filter circuit (1A3) are discharged through a path including a protection resistance 5B, the high-voltage switch (3B), and a diode (2B). As the resistance values of the protection resistances (5A, 5B) are small, the discharge time constant is small such that the output voltage can be brought to zero rapidly compared to conventional devices using a discharging resistance, and the speed of the positive-negative polarity switching can be increased.
