Abstract:
Disc-shaped magnetic recording medium adapted for obtaining a high reproduction output with low noise, particularly for high density recording. In this medium, a ferromagnetic powder which has a remanence of more than approx. 1000 Oe and a BET specific surface area of approx. 25 to 70 m2/g is employed. Thus, noise can be reduced, and the electromagnetic characteristics for recording at a high density can be satisfied. Further, the ferromagnetic powder is orientated at random (without orientation) or in the circumferential direction within the magnetic layer, thereby eliminating variations in the output and obtaining a high reproduction output.
