Abstract:
Provided is a lighting method for a discharge lamp with which flickering of a projected image can be suppressed to a greater degree than with the prior art. A power supply control unit has a segment signal generation unit that divides a specific period represented by a video synchronization signal, thereby generating a segment signal representing multiple segment periods, and a peak value control unit that generates, for each segment period, a first control signal in accordance with the peak value of the alternating current. The peak value control unit sets a specific segment period among the multiple segment periods belonging to the specific period so as not to be the final segment period that is positioned last in the specific period, with this specific segment period being the segment period representing the integral value farthest from the average value of the integral value in the specific period, with this integral value being the product of the segment period length and the peak value set in the segment period.
