Title:
DISCHARGE LAMP
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2001/001447
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
A discharge lamp capable of maintaining a steady arc while reducing the time required for the intensity of radiation to become steady after switch-on. The discharge lamp comprises a bulb (10) consisting of a discharge tube (11) defining a discharge space (S) and a sealing tube (12) coupled to the ends of the discharge tube; an anode (13) and a cathode (14) arranged to oppose to each other in the discharge space (S) of the bulb (10); electrode rods (15) extending from the respective sealing tubes (12) into the discharge tube (11) and supporting the anode (13) and cathode (14), respectively, on their distal ends; and mercury enclosed in the discharge space (S) of the bulb (10). A thermal conductor (30) provided in the discharge space (S) of the bulb (10) is in contact with the electrode rod (15) supporting the cathode (14). In operation of the discharge lamp, the anode (13) is preferably located above the cathode (14).
