Abstract:
A dishwasher (10) utilizes a dock detection system to determine when a connector (70, 126, 146, 166) of a spray device (194, 196, 198, 198', 199) is docked to a docking port (66, 102, 144) provided on a manifold (100, 160) of the dishwasher (10). A dock detector (108, 110, 148, 168) is coupled to the docking port (66, 102, 144) and is electrically coupled to a dishwasher controller (30) through electrical conductors (104, 106) that extend along the manifold (100, 160), thereby enabling the dishwasher controller (30) to detect when spray devices (194, 196, 198, 198', 199) are coupled to the manifold (100, 160), e.g., to optimize a wash cycle to use a particular spray device (194, 196, 198, 198', 199) docked to the docking port (66, 102, 144).
