Abstract:
A disc brake in which a lightweight material is used as a material for a back plate in order to reduce the weight of the disc brake, wherein cracking and breakage of the back plate are suppressed, and uneven wear of the friction material is suppressed. Specifically, the disc brake has: a disc brake pad comprising a friction material and a back plate; and a caliper piston that presses the disc brake pad toward a brake disc when braking, the disc brake including, as a constituent material of the back plate, a material having a tensile modulus of 150 GPa or less, and the end part area of the caliper piston on the back-plate side being 35-85% of the pressure-receiving area of the caliper piston.
