Abstract:
A liquid crystal display apparatus 10 is provided with: a liquid crystal panel 11; a backlight device 12 having an emission face 12a; an LED 13; a central directivity prism sheet 17 which, as a result of imparting, to at least light emitted from the emission face 12a, a light refraction effect that is directed to the central side of the liquid crystal panel 11, causes a luminance angle distribution representing luminance for different angles of the emitted light with respect the emission face 12a to have a larger emission angle range in which the emission quantity is relatively large and a smaller emission angle range in which the emission quantity is relatively low; and an asymmetrical linear fresnel lens sheet 20 which imparts an asymmetrical light refraction effect to the light emitted from the central directivity prism sheet 17, such that the light in the smaller emission angle range is directed toward the smaller emission angle range side but at least a portion of the light in the larger emission angle range is directed to the smaller emission angle range side.
