Abstract:
Image information representing vehicle side images (P1, P2, ..., Pn) of the sides of a vehicle (31) photographed sequentially along the advancing direction (32) of the vehicle (31) by peripheral photographing devices (21, 22) is acquired. A composite image, in which the vehicle side images (P1, P2, ..., Pn) are spliced together along the advancing direction (32) of the vehicle (31), is generated on the basis of the acquired image information. On the basis of the state of the periphery of the vehicle (31) detected by a periphery detection device, it is determined whether there is a parkable space. If it is determined that there is a parkable space, a parking space image, in which a parking space display object indicating the position of the parkable space is superimposed on the composite image, is generated and outputted to a display device.
