Abstract:
The device includes a rear video data acquiring unit 42 that acquires first video data from a rear camera 110 that captures the image of the view behind a vehicle, a lateral rear video data acquiring unit 41 that acquires lateral rear video data from a right-side rear camera 120 and a left-side rear camera 130 that capture images of the view to the right and left sides behind the vehicle, a proximate vehicle detecting unit 60 that detects a vehicle approaching the vehicle from behind, and a video synthesizing unit 52 that, when the proximate vehicle detecting unit 60 detects a vehicle approaching the vehicle from behind, synthesizes the lateral rear video data in the left and right upper parts of the rear video data, and a display control unit that displays the video data, synthesized by the video synthesizing unit 52, on a rear view monitor 140 that displays video of the view behind the vehicle.
