A display device capable of largely displaying letters and figures and enabling a simplification in structure and a reduction in size and a calendar device of a timepiece. The display device comprises a display part (10b) for displaying the period of a part of information, a first display wheel (10) having a plurality of driven tooth parts (10a), a display part (10b) for displaying the other period not displayed by the first display wheel (10), an opening part (22) for exposing the first display wheel (10), a second display wheel (20) having a plurality of driven tooth parts (20a) and disposed stackingly on the first display wheel (10), and a drive claw (33) rotatingly driving the first display wheel (10) and the second display wheel (20). The display device also comprises a display wheel drivingly control part (30M) displaying information by exposing the display part of one of the display wheels through a window (100) by driving the first display wheel (10) and the second display wheel (20) by a drive claw (33) in increments of prescribed intervals. The number of teeth of the tooth parts (10a) of the first display wheel (10) is set to the same as that of the tooth parts (20a) of the second display wheel (20).
