Abstract:
The present invention relates to a display device and a control method thereof, and the display device comprises: a display unit for displaying an image; a backlight unit comprising a plurality of light sources for transferring light to a screen of the display unit; an image processing unit which divides an input image into a plurality of blocks, determines a target brightness for each of the blocks, and determines a control value of each of the plurality of light sources in accordance with the priority of the each of the plurality of light sources; and a driving unit for driving the plurality of light sources on the basis of the control values. Accordingly, a duty cycle for controlling the quantity of light from a light source is determined by considering the duty cycle of a light source having a high pre-determined priority, thereby enabling dimming control considering the influence of the spread of light from an adjacent neighboring light source.
