Abstract:
A display device and a luminance control method thereof. The display device comprises a display panel (1) and a backlight source. The backlight source comprises multiple light-emitting elements (2) and a backlight control circuit. The display panel (1) comprises a first transparent substrate (10) and a second transparent substrate (11) arranged opposite to each other, multiple phototransistors (110) provided on the first transparent substrate (11) and/or the second transparent substrate (12), and a luminance control circuit connected to the multiple phototransistors (110). A current outputted from the phototransistors (110) changes as an ambient light intensity changes. The luminance control circuit detects the current outputted from the phototransistors (110), generates a corresponding control signal according to the change in the current, and transmits the control signal to the backlight control circuit, such that the backlight control circuit controls the luminance of the light-emitting elements (2) according to the control signal. Compared to a photosensitive sensor, the phototransistors (110) have a smaller volume and lower cost, thus enhancing the integration of the display device and reducing production cost of the display device.
