Abstract:
Provided is a drive method whereby it is possible to simultaneously compensate for both degradation of a drive transistor and degradation of a light-emitting element without causing special light emission during detection of characteristics in a display device. A display device having a pixel circuit including an electro-optical element the luminance of which is controlled by a current, and a drive transistor for controlling the current to be supplied to the electro-optical element, wherein a drive method includes a first characteristic detection step (S10) for detecting a characteristic of the drive transistor, a second characteristic detection step (S20) for detecting a characteristics of the electro-optical element, a correction data storage step (S30) for storing characteristic data obtained on the basis of detection results in the first and second characteristic detection steps (S10, S20) as correction data for correcting a video signal, and a video signal correction step (S40) for correcting a video signal on the basis of the correction data. Here, the processing of the second characteristic detection step (S20) is performed in a light emission period.
