Abstract:
Provided is a low-power consumption display device. The display device has a display, an operation circuit, and a storage circuit. The display has functions of displaying an image corresponding to image data, and storing the image data. The operation circuit has a function of generating the image data. The storage circuit has a function of storing the image data. The display device has a function of operating in a first state or a second state. In the first state, the image data is written in the storage circuit and the display, and the image corresponding to the image data is displayed. In the second state, the display device is operated in first mode, in which the image data writing to the display is stopped, and second mode, in which the image data stored in the storage circuit is written in the display. After performing operations of m frames (m is a natural number) in the first mode, the operation in the second mode is performed.
