This display device (1) projects an image to a target surface which is to be irradiated and has a first region that reflects first wavelength light and a second region through which the first wavelength light passes and which receives second wavelength light that is different from the first wavelength light in order to emit visible light. This display device (1) comprises: a wavelength selection unit (141) that selects the first wavelength light or the second wavelength light according to a projection area, on the basis of region distribution information that is information about distribution of the first region and the second region on the target surface; a light source unit (20) that emits light selected from among the first wavelength light and the second wavelength light; and a projection unit (30) that projects an image formed by the emitted light onto the target surface.
