This display device (1) is provided with a mirror body (10), a display unit (30), and a mirror unit (20) which is arranged between the mirror body (10) and the display unit (30) and which can switch between a transparent state which transmits both external light (I1) and image light (L1), and a reflective state which reflects external light (I1) that has passed through the mirror body (10). The mirror body (10) comprises: a translucent substrate (11); an absorptive polarizing plate (12) which, in planar view, covers a first region (R1) where the mirror unit (20) and the display unit (30) are not present, and a second region (R2) where the mirror unit (20) and a display unit (30) are provided; and a reflective polarizing plate (14) which is provided on the back side of the substrate (11) and which has an opening in the second region (R2). The mirror unit (20) has a liquid crystal layer (23) which can change the polarization direction of the external light (I1) and a reflective polarizing plate (24) which is arranged on the display unit (30) side of the liquid crystal layer (23).
