A display device (10) has an image formation device (30) for emitting image light (Li), and a guidance means (55) for guiding the image light Li. The guidance means includes a polarization selection reflection layer (70) including one or more layers that have a cholesteric liquid crystal structure. The polarization selection reflection layer reflects the image light to change the optical path of the image light.
