A liquid crystal display device is provided with: LEDs; a liquid crystal panel (11) that displays by using LED light; a chassis that is disposed on the reverse side of the liquid crystal panel (11) to the display-surface side; a frame (13) that is disposed on the display-surface side of the liquid crystal panel (11), has a frame-like structure, and houses the liquid crystal panel (11) and the LEDs sandwiched between the chassis and the frame (13); positioning ribs (23) that have a cylinder-like structure, protrude from the frame (13) towards the chassis, and have a side-surface that faces the edge of the liquid crystal panel (11), thereby enabling the liquid crystal panel (11) to be positioned in the display-surface direction; and step parts (30) that protrude from part of the apical-surface of the positioning ribs (23), towards the chassis, to form steps, the step parts (30) being provided in a position so that the side surfaces (interior side-surfaces 30a) thereof that face the edge of the liquid crystal panel (11) are in-line with the side surfaces (interior side-surfaces 23a) of the positioning ribs (23) that face the edge of the liquid crystal panel (11).
