Abstract:
Provided are a display device and a television receiver such that a thinner thickness and narrower bezel can be achieved without detrimentally affecting aesthetic appeal. The display device comprises: a light-guide plate having an end surface wherefrom light emitted from a light source enters, and one surface wherefrom the light that has entered from the end surface is emitted; a dish-shaped housing body housing the light-guide plate in such a manner that the one surface of the light-guide plate faces toward an opening thereof; and a display panel illuminated by the light emitted from the opening of the housing body. The housing body comprises: a bottom plate having one surface facing the other surface of the light-guide plate, and provided with a recessed portion at an end surface thereof; a side plate disposed in the surrounding of the bottom plate and provided with an engagement portion on an inner surface thereof; and a joining member whereof a portion (fitting-in portion) is fitted into the recessed portion, while another portion (joining portion) engages the engagement portion, thereby joining together the bottom plate and the side plate.
