FIELD QF THE INVENTION This invention relates to display devices for two dimensional matter, in particular but not limited to displaying posters and similar printed matter in a novel and elegant manner.

BACKGROUND ART Business has a common need to communicate with clients through some form of graphic or pictorial display, for example: registration certificates, posters, event schedules, notices, price lists, menus and promotional material. This information often needs to be updated from time to time, the frequency depending on the function of the communication. The replacement of display material can be a pain taking and time consuming job. If the display system is not quick and easy to use, information is less likely to be updated in a timely manner, and there is an additional cost to business in the time required for employees to perform this function. Often the installation of the display system itself is costly and time consuming. Paper based signage is relatively cheap but usually needs to be replaced regularly. Image is important to business and therefor signage needs to blend in with the environment and needs to be easily maintained. Uniform display systems, with a range of applications throughout a single environment, provide continuity. It is also desirable for the display systems to be easily customised, and to accommodate various specific needs. Accordingly there is a requirement over a range of business activities for a display system that has the following characteristics: • ease of use, • ease of installation, • cost efficiency, • style, • flexibility and • ease of customization. Existing products, including photo-frames, glass front cabinets, acrylic sleeves attached directly to the wall or freestanding black/white boards, custom built displays, and sticky tape or blue-tack lack one or more of the above characteristics. It would therefore be advantageous to a display system, which is easy to install, is stylish and allows for quick and easy exchange of signage while providing flexibility of use at a competitive price.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION In one aspect, the invention comprises a display device for displaying two dimensional matter having a holder formed from rigid material and a slot formed in the holder to receive a sleeve which displays the two dimensional matter. Preferably the holder is formed from rigid material and has at least two fixings, which attach it to the vertical support or to wires suspended from above. Preferably the sleeve is formed from a sheet of transparent material folded on itself about its mid-line and folded at right angles at both its ends to form opposed retaining flanges. In one embodiment of the invention, the holder is an angle section, whose vertical flange can be attached directly to a vertical support and the slot, is located in the protruding horizontal flange of the angle section. In another embodiment, the holder is an angle section which opposes a vertical support, the vertical flange of which is attached thereto via interposed spacers, and wherein the slot for receiving the sleeve is formed in the horizontal flange. In yet another embodiment, the holder is formed from a u-shaped channel, which is attached to a vertical surface or is suspended by wires from above and the slot is cut in the central section of the channel and is open-ended to receive the sleeve by sliding it into the slot horizontally.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS In order that the invention be better understood and put into practical effect, reference will now be made to the accompanying illustrations wherein: Figure 1 shows a perspective view of a vertically mounted version of the present invention with the display sleeve removed from the holder. Figure 2 shows an end elevation of the vertically mounted version of Figure 1 with the display sleeve inserted in the slot of the holder. Figure 3 shows a perspective view of an alternative vertically mounted version of the present invention with the display sleeve removed form the holder. Figure 4 shows an end elevation of the vertically mounted version of Figure 3 with the display sleeve inserted in the slot of the holder. Figure 5 shows a perspective view of a wire-mounted version of the present invention with the display sleeve partially horizontally inserted in the open slot of the holder. Figure 6 shows an end elevation of the wire-mounted version of Figure 5. Figure 7 shows a slider display. Figure 8 shows a drop display. Figure 9 shows a combination of multiple sleeves in a single bracket. Figure 10 shows a combination of double layer slide in sign. Figure 11 shows a window display system with multiple sleeve combinations. Figure 12 shows a table an counter talker of the invention.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS Example 1 The display device in Figure 1 has a holder 1 formed from an angle bracket, the vertical flange of which is attached to wall 7 by screws 2. The material to be displayed 6 is held in the sleeve 4 which is suspended from slot 3 cut into the horizontal flange of the holder 1. The sleeve 4 is formed from a rectangular transparent sheet folded about its midline and about its ends to form opposing flanges 5. The sleeve 4 is lowered vertically through the slot 3, and suspended by ridges 5 formed at the top of the sleeve 4. Figure 2 is an end elevation of the display device of Figure 1 showing the sleeve 4 suspended in its display position from holder 1. Screws 2 mount the holder 1 on wall 7. Figure 3 shows an alternative wall-mounted bracket version of the display device. The holder 1 is an angle bracket which faces the wall 7 and the vertical flange of which is fixed to it by screws 2 and spaced apart from the wall 7 by spacers 8 and washers 9. The sleeve 4 is lowered vertically through slot 3 clear of the spacers 8. Ridges 5 formed at the top of the sleeve 4 suspend it in the display position. Figure 5 shows another embodiment of the invention in which the holder 1 is a channel section which is suspended from above by wires 10. The wires 10 are attached to the holder 1 via ferules 11 bridging the channel section and held by thumb screws 12 through the walls of the channel. The holder 1 has an open ended slot 3 which allows the sleeve 4 to slide horizontally into the display position, suspended by flanges 5.

Example 2 There are numerous variations of the invention as illustrated in all the drawings. Generally an aluminum bracket is used with removable acrylic sleeves. There can be brackets that attach to a ceiling or wall. Essentially all the variations provide the ability to allow the slotting and replacement of a display item. Throughout the description and claims of this specification the word "comprise" and variations of that word such as, "comprises" and "comprising", are not intended to exclude other additives, components, integers or steps. It will of course, be realized that while the foregoing has been given by way of illustrative examples of this invention, all such and other modifications and variations thereto, as would be apparent to persons skilled in the art, are deemed to fall within the broad-scope and ambit of this invention as herein set forth. Our Drop-its Display System is designed for situations where the space left and right of the bracket is insufficient to slide the sleeve in & out of our standard 'Slider Display'. The sleeve simply drops in through the slot in the top of the bracket.
