Provided is a liquid crystal display device, which is provided with: a housing having a back cabinet (7); a liquid crystal display panel (3) and a backlight device (4), which are housed in the housing; and a circuit board that constitutes a drive circuit for displaying an image on the liquid crystal display panel (3). The back cabinet (7) has a space section (7a), in which the backlight device (4) and the circuit board can be housed, and the back cabinet has a backlight supporting section (7b) provided on the inner wall surface that forms the space section (7a), said backlight section supporting the backlight device (4) and attaching the backlight device using a screw (13). Furthermore, the liquid crystal display panel (3) is disposed on the backlight device (4), and the liquid crystal display panel (3) is held by attaching a front cabinet (6) to an opening in the back cabinet (7) such that the front cabinet covers the planar display panel.
