Abstract:
Within each pixel (P) of a display device (100), a plurality of sub-pixels (R, G, B, Y) is positioned to be aligned in one direction of the row direction or the column direction. When an inputted video in a planar display mode has a first resolution, the display device displays one pixel's worth of data of the inputted video by two pixels which are adjacent in the other direction of the row direction or the column direction. When an inputted right-eye video and an inputted left-eye video in a stereoscopic display mode have the first resolution, the display device displays one pixel's worth of data of the inputted right-eye video and one pixel's worth of the inputted left-eye video by two pixels which are adjacent in the other direction of the row direction or the column direction. When the inputted video in the planar display mode has a second resolution which is higher than the first resolution, the display device displays one pixel's worth of data of the inputted video by respective pluralities of virtual pixels (VP1, VP2) which are specified by each respective pixel.
