Abstract:
A display device (1) characterized in being provided with an image display device (3) having an image display surface (3a) for radiating light that is polarized in one direction and displaying an image, and an overlay display device (5) having a transparent light-guiding plate (5a) that is provided on top of the image display surface (3a), the transparent light-guiding plate (5a) transmitting the light radiated from the image display device (3) and having a groove (5d) for constituting a pattern (5c) formed therein, and a light source (5b) for radiating light to the end surface of the transparent light-guiding plate (5a), the overlay display device (5) being switched to display and not to display the pattern (5c) on the basis of the on/off state of the light source (5b), the polarization direction (L2) of the image display device (3) and the extension direction (L3) of the groove (5d) intersecting each other in an angle range of 75° to 105° inclusive. The display device (1) can thereby ensure appropriate visibility.
