Abstract:
Provided is a display device with which it is possible to rapidly adjust the temperature of a DMD within an operable temperature range, and to reduce power consumption. A display device for displaying a prescribed display image, the display device being provided with: a control unit that causes any one of a plurality of light sources to emit light, each of the plurality of light sources emitting light of a different color, generates illumination light of a desired color from the light emitted from the plurality of light sources, using a field-sequential method in which the light sources for emitting light are switched in sequence, and reflects toward a screen, through a reflection unit, the light that corresponds to the display image from among the illumination light; a temperature detection unit for detecting the temperature of a display element; and a temperature adjustment unit for adjusting the temperature of the display element. The control unit stops the supply of current to the plurality of light sources and supplies current at a first current value (A1) only to the temperature adjustment unit when the temperature detected by the temperature detection unit is within a low-temperature or high-temperature non-displayed range of the display element.
