Abstract:
This display device comprises: an image display unit (10) that displays an image in a display area (11); an object (30) that is disposed to the rear of the image display unit and that is provided so as to be able to be displayed through the image display unit; a first backlight (20) that can emit light from the rear towards both the image display unit and the object; and a second backlight (50, 250) that is disposed between the image display unit and the object, and that can emit light from the rear to the image display unit. The second backlight is disposed so as to overlap the display area, and includes a light-transmitting plate (53, 253) having light-transmitting properties, and a light source unit (51) that supplies light to inside the light-transmitting plate through a light-receiving section (53a) of the light-transmitting plate. The light-transmitting plate has a plurality of light reflection elements (55) that are recessed from a plate surface 53c and disposed in an object-overlapping region that overlaps the object, where the light reflection elements regularly reflect, towards the image display unit side, light supplied inside the light-transmitting plate.
