Abstract:
The present invention provides a display device that makes it possible to visually recognize an image displayed using a light source from one surface of a display panel, together with a background on the other surface on the reverse side, and reduce light leakage from a switching element. This display device is provided with: a liquid crystal layer having polymer dispersed liquid crystal filled between an array substrate and an opposite substrate; and a light source disposed such that light enters a side surface of the array substrate or a side surface of the opposite substrate. In a region surrounded by scanning lines and signal lines, a region having an organic insulating layer with a smaller thickness than that of the organic insulating layer overlapping the scanning line and the signal line in plan view is present. A first inclined surface of the organic insulating layer, which is located closer to the light source than the switching element in plan view, is covered with a metallic layer. A second inclined surface of the organic insulating layer, which is located farther from the light source than the switching element, is covered with a metallic layer.
