Abstract:
One of the purposes of the present invention is to minimize brightness unevenness in a display device that is provided with a polymer-dispersed liquid crystal layer and a light source for irradiating the side surface of a first substrate or a second substrate with light. The present invention is characterized in that a plurality of pixels in the display region includes a first pixel (PX1) and a second pixel (PX2) that is closer to the side surface than the first pixel (PX1); and an evaluation value (Q1) for stripe-shaped polymer overlapping with the first pixel (PX1) in plan view is greater than an evaluation value (Q2) for stripe-shaped polymer overlapping the second pixel (PX2) in plan view, where the evaluation value is defined as the value acquired by dividing the length of the major axis of an evaluation circle by the minor axis of the evaluation circle, the evaluation circle being defined to be a contour in a plane defined by a first frequency component and a second frequency component in an area where the amplitude is at least 75% of the maximum value in a spatial frequency spectrum created by applying a two-dimensional Fourier transform to the pattern of stripe-shaped polymer overlapping the pixels in plan view.
